Dubai Islamic Bank wins Middle East e-Banking Award

Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) received the Middle East e-Banking Award 2007 during a recent ceremony organised by the Middle East Excellence Awards Institute.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Jomaa Al Maktoum presented the awards to the winners at a ceremony attended by senior bankers in Dubai. The award was received by Tareq Bazian, e-channels manager, e-banking services department, DIB.

DIB was honored due to its vision and efforts to adopt the latest technology in the e-banking sector. Mohammad Al Ameery, Senior Vice President, Retail and Business Banking Services, DIB, said: "The award reflects DIB's commitment towards investing in technology. The enormous and continuous efforts to upgrade and develop the bank's online services to meet the customers' growing needs have resulted in this prestigious recognition. The award is another achievement for DIB, adding up to a series of recognitions for its leading role in the local and international arena."

He added: "DIB's online services have developed noticeably over the past years and proved to be highly advanced. These services have contributed to enhance the credibility of DIB's Internet banking services which are now highly appreciated and recognized universally."

The awards are aimed at recognizing the best banks among Middle East countries that provide e-Banking services to successfully solve customer needs electronically. They are presented to banks that have setup, used e-Banking tools, and have encouraged the enthusiasm of customers for the use of e-banking solutions in their respective countries.

Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB), established in 1975, is the first Islamic bank to have incorporated the principles of Islam in all its practices. The bank has recently announced the breaking of another world record by raising US$3.52 billion Sukuk for the Nakheel Group.
