- PRESS RELEASE
MAF Shopping Malls, the region's leading shopping mall developer with an established network of operating centres, celebrated one of its most successful periods ever during Dubai Summer Surprises 2007.
Mall of the Emirates recorded a significant increase over last year's DSS performance with an 8% improvement in footfall as visitors flocked to see unique shows such as the 'High Dive Show', where Olympic champions performed astonishing 27m high dives into a 4m deep tank, and to watch world-famous Scottish artist David Mach create a 12ft x 9ft picture of a thoroughbred racehorse only using 8,000 postcards.
Deira City Centre also saw an improvement in figures, enjoying a 6 % increase in footfall due to its unique offering of fun-filled family entertainment highlighted by shows such as 'The Magical Garden' where visitors were taken on a mystical tour through the beauty of nature, and 'Superheroes in the City', a show performed by superheroes from the UK involving breathtaking acrobatic skills, action and humor.
Fareed Abdel Rahman, Vice President Asset Manager, MAF Shopping Malls said: "We are delighted with the success of our malls during Dubai Summer Surprises. Once again we have proved that MAF Shopping Malls are the leading malls in the region as we have surpassed our high expectations and provided a quality DSS experience for all our customers - a large part of whom were tourists from around the world and especially the GCC.
"Our unique shows, which managed to combine entertainment, excitement and education, coupled with the diverse retail mix and enticing promotions at the malls, encouraged customers to spend more time in the malls and therefore significantly increase their average expenditure. MAF Shopping Malls is now looking forward to working with the government on DSF 2008 and delivering another excellent festival for our customers."
