BAE Systems sponsors tenth annual Young Musicians of the Gulf competition

The annual event has been described as a region-wide 'celebration of young musical talent', attracting eighty students from all over the GCC and beyond last year.

The Young Musician of the Gulf competition 2008 will be held over February 18th to February 21st. The week long competition will begin with solo heats followed by ensemble heats and will conclude with a Grand Final which will take place at the Gulf Hotel in Bahrain. The Young Musicians of the Gulf competition also includes composition and orchestral workshops for the students.

'BAE Systems sponsored the Young Musicians of the Gulf competition last year which was a tremendous success. The competition provides a regional platform for nurturing the abundant musical talent and creativity that exists in the Kingdom of Bahrain and beyond,'

said Mark Simpkins, General Manager, BAE SYSTEMS, Bahrain.

As part of its focused efforts to increase its community involvement BAE Systems is also an official partner of the Bahrain Athletics Association (BAA) having announced a major sponsorship deal with the BAA earlier this year that will assist in the training and development of the nation's athletes.

The Grand Final of next year's Young Musician of the Gulf competition is open to the public.
