- PRESS RELEASE
Qatargas is launching its annual road safety campaign which will run for the holy month of Ramadan on television, billboards and newspapers in the Qatar.
The message of this year's campaign is simple - "Speed Kills". The campaign is part of the company's commitment to community in which it operates and aims to ensure that road safety issues continue to have a high profile in the country.
Mr. Faisal M. Al Suwaidi said: "Safety is the most important thing we do every day at Qatargas. We are pleased to be able to take this message outside our plant and into the community and remind people that there are consequences when you don't drive carefully and safely on our country's roads."
He continued; "Ramadan is a time of high traffic incidents and we believe it is a good time to remind people of the responsibilities you have when you sit behind the wheel of a car, not only to yourself but for other road users too."
This year Qatargas has produced a dramatic television commercial which the company hopes will remind people of what can happen when you speed.
Every day there are 2.5 casualties from road accidents in Qatar and for the first three months of 2007 93 died on Qatar's roads.
