The Jersey team delivered a two day course to local finance professionals who are about to enter the newly created DIFC Trust Industry.
The DIFC established its own trust legislation only in 2005 and the first home grown trust company is expected to be licensed later this year.
Sarajane Kempster, Director of Business Development at Mourant Private Wealth, commented: 'Our course is designed to show a more practical approach to handling trust business and takes into account the issues that locally based professionals will need to be mindful of in the day to day administration of these structures. It illustrates how they can avoid the common pitfalls either when they take on the administration of a Trust or when they become trustees.'
Those on the course included in house legal counsel, senior relationship managers from private banks and family office representatives from local Dubai organisations.
The training programme is a joint venture between Mourant Private Wealth and respected Emirates law firm Al Tamimi and is undertaken with the support of the DIFC which is keen to develop a home grown trust industry.
Sarajane Kempster added: 'We are delighted to be invited to do this. We see Dubai as complementary to our own trust offering available from Jersey and other jurisdictions and we are happy for them to benefit from our knowledge and years of experience handling trust structures.'
Mourant Private Wealth has already undertaken sales training for leading financial institutions in both Abu Dhabi and Kuwait and the trust programme is an extension to this training initiative, helping to emphasise the Jersey based firm's commitment to the region.
Mourant Private Wealth has an office in Dubai and its senior team of professionals in Jersey are regular visitors to the Gulf region.
