This was during a press conference attended by HE Mirza Al Sayegh and Dr. Tayeb Kamali, Vice Chancellor of HCT. These generous instructions by HH Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, were very much appreciated by the colleges as it will contribute to the success and achievements of the students in both colleges. Students from the Higher Diploma Foundation year presented a demonstration about the latest technology used in the curriculum.
Annually, the colleges receive strong support in facilitating the purchase of laptops for the students who could not afford getting one. The Organization performs all the investigations on all the cases and then decide on the eligible cases that can be recommended for the aid. After the investigation the organization coordinates with the laptop supplier and arrange for the student to get the laptop to enhance his academic performance.
In order to cope with the fast development in the information technology and the usage of the latest technologies in education, the colleges developed its curriculums and introduced the laptops in the different programs and in all the degrees including Diploma and Higher Diploma. Students from the Higher Diploma and Diploma Foundation year demonstrated the application of the new technology that they are using in their curriculum.
The Al Maktoum Charity Organization has generously contributed the amount of Dhs 600,000 for the Dubai Men's and Women's Colleges to be used as financial aid for students in the two colleges. The event was attended by HH Shaikh Rashid Bin Hamdan Al Maktoum, HE Mirza Al Sayegh and Dr. Tayeb Kamali, Vice Chancellor of HCT, Dr. Philip Hicks, DMC Director and Dr. Howard Reed, DWC Director.
Dr. Kamali has appreciated and valued this generous contribution and mentioned that it will definitely enhance and improve the learning abilities of the students and will prepare them to meet the competition in the market. Also he mentioned that using the laptop in the education has positively confirmed that the academic performance of students and teaching and learning has been significantly influenced.
On the other hand, Dr. Hicks expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Al Maktoum Charity Organization for their continuous support to National students which reflects the great attention given to development of the caliber of graduates. He also said that this support creates a great opportunity for students to gain more experience and develop their abilities and skills.
During the visit, HE Mirza Al Sayegh overviewed the plans and activities of the World Challenge - Adventure Quest, Dubai where 500 students from DMC participated as part of their first year curriculum to develop their leadership and team building skills in addition to the problem solving and time management. This project is a pilot project which is planned to target all UAE students males and females by next year. The future plans for this project feature a permanent building for the World Challenge where they can offer the same program to school students, university students and even on the corporate level.

Al Maktoum Charity Organization presented a cheque of AED600,000 as financial aid to Dubai Men's and Women's Colleges to enhance their academic performance.
