Dubai Internet City's Reality Check 2.0 goes online

Reality Check 2.0, a series of high-powered panel discussions on the development of information and communications technology (ICT) in the region available online.
The discussions were held for the second consecutive year during GITEX Technology Week 2007 at the Dubai Internet City Community Zone. Led by IT experts, entrepreneurs and decision makers from private and public sector organizations, the talks generated significant interest among trade visitors, industry professionals and officials.
Panel discussions on the future of telecommunications held on the first day of GITEX 2007 saw the participation of Osman Sultan, CEO, du; Mohamed Al Ghanim, Director General, UAE Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRA); and Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar, CEO, Etisalat.
The second day of Reality Check 2.0 centred on IT Entrepreneurship. Speakers included Ahmed Hameed Al Mazroui, Chairman - Board of Trustees, ICT Fund; Abdul Baset Al Janahi, Director, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Young Entrepreneurs; Feroz Sanaulla, Director, Intel Fund Capital; and Morten Kvammen, Head of Private Equity, Delta Capital.
Discussions on 10 September saw Ghazi Atallah, Senior Advisor, NexGen; Young Chu, General Manager, Korean Telecom; and Amr Salem, Director, Connected Real Estate, Cisco air their views on 'Digital Cities'.
On 11 September, panellists covered key areas in Energy and Green buildings. The discussions brought together Dilip Rahulan, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Pacific Control; Ali Bin Towaih, Director, Energy and Environment Park (ENPARK); Mario Seneviratne, Director, Green Technologies, and Parbissh Thomas, Manager, GE Solar.
The panel on the concluding day of GITEX 2007 focused on Young National Entrepreneurs. Khalil Al Mansouri, Vice President, eMart; Mohammed Harib, Creator and Director, Fareej; Alanood Badr, CEO, Fozaza; and Abdulla Al Awar, Managing Director, Retail Technologies highlighted their respective success stories, while focusing on the challenges faced by young entrepreneurs.
