Oman's Octal Holding has pumped $300m into a petrochemical plant in the Salalah Free Zone and plans to become the world's largest producer of amorphous polyethylene tere-phthalate (APET) sheet packaging, with a 20% market share. The plant started operations last December and now has an annual capacity of 30,000 tonnes. A twin PET resin and APET sheet complex will provide a further 300,000 tonnes of APET sheet-making capacity from next April.
