This event took place at the newly opened Festival Marina, owned by Dubai Festival City and managed by IGY.
A press conference was held, during which the structure of the Grand Prix was outlined by Russell Burns, ART Marine's Sailing Director. A test sailing event followed this press conference, where members of the media, team owners and other sailing enthusiasts took to the Dubai Creek for an afternoon of informal competition.
During the press conference, Laser Middle East Director, Richard Lewis, took the opportunity to announce the formation of the 1st all-women's team in the Grand Prix, with selection trials commencing in the 3rd week of September.
