Al Jazeera and iHorizons team up to win best 'Media & Education Implementation of the year'
- Qatar: Monday, September 17 - 2007 at 14:44
- PRESS RELEASE
Last week the region's world-class IT projects got the recognition they so richly deserved when ACN hosted the Arab Technology Awards in association with GITEX.
"Al Jazeera faced a challenge - how to disseminate the vast quantity of information it was generating on a daily basis to its audience and users. To tackle this, it implemented an advanced content management system, which allowed it to manage Arabic content across multiple media, including SMS and the internet. As a result, the company is now able to get the latest information to the widest audience possible." said Walid Akawi, CEO of ITP Publishing Group.
As the premier source for Arabic news on the web, www.aljazeera.net mission is to replicate the success of the TV channel and provide Arabic readers all over the world with timely news and rich original content. In order to do so, Al Jazeera has teamed up with iHorizons, the leading content management and software developer in the region, to deploy its technologies and solutions to manage and publish this leading news site.
"We are very proud that AlJazeera won this award as this reflects directly back on our business model, our employees and the technologies we offer. We are proud to say that our content management solution can take on any task, no matter how great the challenge, something AlJazeera.net is proof of", said Khalid Halaweh, Country Manager of iHorizons Qatar.
iHorizons places a great emphasis on R&D and innovation, and as a result, iHorizons was the first Qatari company to be included at the Qatar Science & Technology Park. Later this year, iHorizons will launch their new content management solution program, Panda, a program the developers have been working on for years.
"With our heavy focus on R&D we are very excited about Panda and to see how companies like Al Jazeera can further benefit from using our solutions. Some of the immediate benefits from the new program will be to provide users with a unique user experience based on the international market standards, enhanced system security as well as presenting new and enhanced e-services", Halaweh finished off.
The ACN Arab Technology Awards, held during GITEX, presented awards in 14 categories, covering a range of key industries across the Middle East, as well as individual achievement for companies and IT professionals. Designed to herald the projects that shine as beacons of excellence, the ACN Arab Technology Awards applaud both corporate and individual achievement across the project spectrum and take into account the efforts of vendors, integrators and the end users.
