Saudi, UK ink $8.8bn jet deal

  • Saudi Arabia: Tuesday, September 18 - 2007 at 06:43

Saudi Arabia has agreed to purchase 72 Eurofighter Typhoon warplanes from the U.K. for £4.43bn ($8.84bn), reported Reuters. The deal, which will include weapons and "substantial" logistical and training agreements, could be worth up to £20bn pounds to main contractor BAE Systems and other firms in Europe and Saudi Arabia. It is believed the Kingdom will pay for the order in cash, rather than oil shipments.
