Sewa seeks $2.7bn for project

State-owned Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) plans to raise at least $2.72bn via a bond sale or sukuk to meet rising demand for power, reported Gulf News. Al Waleed Khalid Bin Khadem, the authority's director-general, said Sewa plans to expand a 400 megawatt power plant to 2,580 megawatts by 2014 to meet demand that is growing by 9% each year.
