Under the auspices of His Excellency Khalil bin Abdullah Al Khonji, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OCCI) Board, the commissioning of 'The Golden Book of the Sultanate of Oman - 37 Years of Development and Prosperity' was officially announced yesterday by Abdullah Rajab Al Balushi, CEO & Executive Director of Daleel LLC for Agencies & Commercial Representation and Tanguy Merrien, Editor in Chief of 'The Business Gateway to the GCC Countries 2007' series.

An official publication of the Federation of GCC Chambers (FGCCC) in partnership with the Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Daleel, the 'Golden Book of the Sultanate of Oman' is in accordance with the cooperation agreement between the European Union and the States of Cooperation Council for the Arab States of GCC Countries that was held in Brussels on May 15th 2006. The book aims to enhance EU and GCC cooperation in areas of mutual interest to implement and conclude the Foreign Trade Agreement (FTA).

"Daleel is proud to be appointed for the commissioning of the book which is in line with Oman's 2020 plan set forth by His Majesty as a roadmap for the nation's economy," expressed Al Balushi.

"The book reflects the sincere efforts of the GCC countries and the Sultanate of Oman to achieve sustainable development and the great emphasis set by the FGCCC towards achieving a united integrated economical unit among the six countries. This will allow us position the Sultanate as an ideal investment partner conveying our heritage, culture and modernism to attract foreign direct investments especially from the European community that will leverage our competitiveness in the global market."

The 'Golden Book of the Sultanate of Oman' aims to create an environment for building common international economic relations in a number of areas such as business, commerce and trade by establishing partnerships through highlighting the modernization and reforms in the Sultanate's economy and infrastructure.

By presenting updated data and information on the economic and business opportunities for businessmen, the book will open Oman's business and investment portal to the rest of the world.

Since 1996, the Sultanate of Oman has successfully established plans in order to coordinate expansion and related endeavors in order to better share the nation's wealth with its people.

The Sultanate has prepared a Seventh Five-Year Development Plan (2006-2010) as a third stage in its long-term development strategies covering the period 1996 to 2020; hence the vision 2020. One of the key main strategies of the Development Plan is to encourage foreign and local private sector investment and assess Government revenues arising from privatizations as well as set up projects and investment funds to finance economic diversification.
