Felix Rodel, Director - Head of Sales for Africa and the Middle East, SWISS says:
'Despite not increasing our carrier capacity, the year's performance figures reflect remarkably well. Our summer sales figures in particular have improved over last year, due largely to our successful summer packages to Switzerland. Our partnership with Lufhansa has also positively increased summer travel to Europe through several codeshare flights.'
'On a product level, we have completed the refurbishment of the economy class cabin on all flights, which will give our passengers more room and comfort. Our next focus will be the refurbishment of business class seats. Looking ahead, we will roll out our winter schedule in October which includes an all-new service to New Delhi and Shanghai, and we will also begin operating a new codeshare flight with Lufthansa from Dubai to Switzerland via Munich.'
Worldwide, SWISS has maintained the favourable business performance it had achieved in 2006 through the first six months of the current year, achieving stronger seat load factors than other European airlines in the first-half period. The 78.8% system-wide seat load factor for the period was a 1.1% improvement on the first half of last year.
Together with Lufthansa German Airlines, SWISS has been able to provide customers a more comprehensive and flexible service.
Star Alliance is the world's biggest airline network of which SWISS is a proud member. As a SWISS customer, you can enjoy access to a vast network of flights, routes and coordinated connections to 855 destinations in 155 countries, plus access to more than 150 airport lounges worldwide.
Miles&More is a joint loyalty incentive and Europe's biggest frequent flyer programme. Members can earn and redeem miles not only with SWISS and Lufthansa, but also with fellow Star Alliance partners and 20 affiliated airlines.
The consistent cost management and revenue synergies that are being derived from SWISS' integration into the Lufthansa Group have significantly contributed to the airline's favourable first-half results.
