Three seek Bahraini oil

Bahrain's Minister of Oil and Gas Affairs Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza has said three firms have made bids to explore for oil in the kingdom's waters, reported Reuters. Initially, as many as 18 firms had expressed an interest but only the US firm Occidental, Russia's Zaru-bezhneft and Thailand's PTT Exploration and Production put in bids by last Wednesday's deadline. Winners will be unveiled by the end of the year.
