New facility to add services and more than 242 new patient beds.
The new building will add more than 242 additional patient beds (all private rooms) and a range of new services, spread over a total of seven floors with a 2-level underground car park (263 spaces), and covering an area of almost 50,000 square meters. This latest development follows the recent opening of a new outpatient clinic building at the site, which will result in a doubling of the medical staff at the hospital. The new inpatient bed tower is the latest in a series of developments being undertaken by the hospital at the Dubai campus.

The new bed Tower will be located at the Southeast corner of the site, where the former surface car parking area was located. The Bed Tower will interconnect with the rest of the hospital for easy access, The Bed Tower will create a new and welcoming main entrance court for visitors to the campus, through an atrium in which family waiting rooms, visitor elevators and public amenities will be based. The atrium is designed to create a relaxing, hospitable atmosphere, with seating areas surrounded by the various patient services. Attention to detail is being applied throughout, for example, the skylight is designed to maximize the amount of light while minimizing the amount of heat gain within the atrium.

In addition, several other hospital renovation projects are ongoing including a new Joint Replacement Center of Excellence and seven new Emergency Department Treatment Exam Rooms which will constitute our new Fast Track Service. These renovations will be completed in December 2007. Minor renovations in the Labor and Delivery Unit including increasing NICU to six beds, Labor Rooms to five and two additional recovery rooms for C-Section Suite has been recently completed.

The architectural planning continues for the expansion of the Medical Imaging Department expected to begin construction in October 2007 to include a new PET/CT scanner and a Cyclotron.
