Max Hypermarkets, SPAR International sign licence agreement

Max Hypermarkets India Private Ltd, today announced that it has signed a Licence Agreement with SPAR International, the world's largest food store retailer.

Max Hypermarkets is promoted by the Landmark Group, the retail group headquartered in Dubai.

The agreement licences Max Hypermarkets to open SPAR branded hypermarkets and supermarkets across India, including seven new stores over the next two years. The first two stores are expected to open in Bangalore next month.

In his comments, Dr Gordon Campbell, Managing Director of SPAR International, said: 'This is an exciting and important development for us. Developing SPAR Hypermarkets in India is a key element in our strategic plan. India is a market with enormous potential and we are pleased to have found an excellent partner in Max Hypermarkets.'

The Landmark Group believes the agreement with SPAR International is a strategic way forward in developing the hypermarket concept in India. The Group's expertise in non-food retailing, in partnership with SPAR's proficiency in food and hypermarket operations, will help create a unique and compelling consumer offer for India.
