Young Arab Leaders and Keppel Corp launch Arab Asian Internship Programme

Young Arab Leaders, the foremost development platform for business, public sector and civil society leaders in the Middle East, and Keppel Corporation, the Singapore-based conglomerate with diversified operations, today launched the Arab Asian Internship Programme.

The three month programme, from June - August 2008, will take 10 students from the Arab world to 10 Asian countries in which Keppel operates, to experience employment in an Asian environment and culture. Interns will be given a specific insight into one of the following fields: sales, marketing, finance and controlling, information technology, purchasing, logistics and quality assurance, as well as corporate and business development.

Keppel will choose the jobs that the students will be asked to undertake during their internship.

Saeed Al Muntafiq, Chairman of the Young Arab Leaders, said: "The Arab Asian Internship Programme provides an opportunity for Arab students to gain experience and insight into how large organizations operate in Asian countries.

"The intensive networking inherent in the programme will benefit the young professionals and help them understand how diversity is managed in different contexts."

The ideal candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.3/4, must be proficient in both English and Arabic; must be a national and resident of the Middle East and North Africa; must be able to demonstrate during the interview that they possess personal qualities to benefit from the programme and use it to succeed in their chosen career, and have a clear idea how their participation will benefit their education going forward.
