Credit Suisse appoints Global Head of Islamic Banking Distribution

Credit Suisse announced today that it has appointed Michael Fouad Chahine as Global Head of Islamic Banking Distribution.

As part of its ongoing commitment to the growing Islamic investment and financing market, Credit Suisse is expanding its platform to distribute Shari'ah compliant solutions to this important growth market. Michael Chahine will be based in Dubai.

In his new role, Michael Chahine will coordinate the existing Islamic Banking competencies across Credit Suisse's Investment Banking, Private Banking and Asset Management businesses to build a distribution centre in Dubai close to the market, clients and sources of new investment and financing opportunities.

Bruno Daher, Co-CEO of the Middle East and Head of Private Banking Middle East said: 'Michael combines a comprehensive knowledge of the region with a broad know-how in Islamic Banking. Together with his team he will deliver the global capabilities of Credit Suisse in New York, Zurich and London to the Gulf market.'

Bassam Yammine, Co-CEO of the Middle East and Head of Investment Banking and Asset Management Middle East added: 'This new position marks another important step in delivering the integrated bank to our clients in the Gulf region. Our clients will benefit from streamlined sales, distribution and placement channels.'

Michael Chahine has been with Credit Suisse since 2000. Most recently, he was Head of Strategic Initiatives in Dubai. Prior to joining Credit Suisse, he spent more than 20 years in various senior banking positions, focusing on the Middle East region and Islamic Banking products. With his extensive knowledge in the Islamic Banking market, he will contribute significantly to strengthening Credit Suisse's activities in this important area of growth.
