This Majlis offers health awareness on various topics such as how to eat healthy and fast easy during the holy month of Ramadan, what types of meals are preferred and why fiber is important in your daily diet, how smoking can also affect your digestive health, tips on how to quit smoking and much more. Ramadan would be a good opportunity to help you quit smoking once you gather the will power and choose the product which will assist you.
The kiosks at the malls are equipped with medical professionals from the Public Health and Primary Health Sector in Dubai who will be offering free health advise to visitors from 10 am to 1 am after midnight every day during Ramadan. Smokerlyzer tests will also be offered to those who smoke or live with smokers. This is a quick, non-invasive test that is performed by simply blowing into a disposable mouthpiece that gives colour indicators as to the level of carbon monoxide gas in the body within seconds.
Visitors who require to see a nutritionist for further details will be referred to the Health Department's Nutrition Center.
Hadra Darwish , Director of Health Education in the Central Department of Primary Healthcare says 'Smoking cessation is the most important step that smokers can take to enhance the length and quality of their lives. Quitting smoking is not easy, but it can be done. To have the best chance of quitting successfully, you need to know what you're up against, what your options are, and where to go for help. For this we have opened smoking cessation clinics as a fruit of our joint efforts with Novartis consumer Health to ensure our objectives.'

Skipping meals is bound to harm health and stamina, rather than improve them. So to realize the benefits of fasting, late midnight meals called Suhur (before the formal start of a fast) and the breaking of the fast should be at the time prescribed. Of course, to ensure good health one should not eat abruptly and in excess after breaking fast.
Avoid
• Limit unhealthy fatty and fried foods as they cause indigestion, heartburn, and weight problems.
• Also avoid those containing too much sugar.
• Do not overeat especially at Suhur
• Avoid too much tea as it is a diuretic and makes you loose mineral salts that your body needs during the day
Drink
As much water or fruit juices as possible between iftar and bedtime so that your body may adjust fluid levels in time.
Eat
• In view of the long hours of fasting, we should consume slow digesting foods including fiber containing-foods rather than fast-digesting foods;. Slow digesting foods last up to 8 hours, while fast-digesting foods last for only 3 to 4 hours.
• Slow-digesting foods are foods that contain grains and seeds like wheat, oats, beans, lentils, whole meal flour, unpolished rice, etc. (called complex carbohydrates).
• Fast-burning foods are foods that contain sugar, white flour, etc. (called refined carbohydrates).
• Fiber-containing foods are bran-containing foods, whole wheat, grains and seeds, vegetables and fruits.
• The foods eaten should be well balanced, containing foods from each food group; fruits, vegetables, meat/chicken/fish, bread/cereals and dairy products, focusing on fibers.
