  • PRESS RELEASE

Dubai Studio City today announced major international broadcast industry leaders have expressed strong interest in setting up at Dubai Studio City (DSC), the Middle East's first dedicated film production cluster and member of TECOM Investments.

The announcement followed Dubai Studio City's debut participation at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC), Europe's largest annual broadcast show, held recently in Amsterdam.

Led by Dr. Amina Al Rustamani, Executive Director of Media, TECOM Investments, and Jamal Al Sharif, Director, Dubai Studio City, DSC's presence was aimed at updating the global broadcasting industry on the benefits of selecting Dubai as a location of choice to establish a regional footprint.

The five-day event drew broadcasters, content creators/providers, equipment manufacturers, professional and technical associations, and other participants in the broadcast industry.

Jamal Al Sharif, Director of Dubai Studio City, said: "DSC's presence in key international events enables us to identify partnership opportunities with industry leaders who can add value to our growing community. As a direct outcome of our discussions, we have scheduled a number of visits by prospective business partners in the coming months.

"Dubai Studio City's outstanding infrastructure and support services, for the production and broadcast value-chain, have generated considerable interest among the global media industry. We are committed to creating a conducive environment that caters to the needs of broadcast professionals."

According to the International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers (IABM), the Middle-Eastern market's bullish outlook offers significant investment potential. Over the past year, the region has moved up to third place from fifth in the global pecking order, according to the IABM's Industry Trends Survey. Suppliers predict year on year sales growth of 14 per cent with matching profitability levels.

Dubai Studio City offers a complete technical and community infrastructure catering to the film, TV, radio production and broadcast industries. DSC aims to attract production and broadcast companies, as well as providers of support services such as animation, dubbing, makeup, costume design, set design and construction, casting, telnet agencies, telecine, and laboratory facilities.
