He brings a wealth of international experience to the position, including time at one of London's most prestigious five star hotels, The Churchill.
Mr Fries said he was looking forward to introducing a whole new level in personal service at The Monarch Dubai when it opens later this year.
'We have a vision of becoming Dubai's most distinguished luxurious hotel and we will differentiate ourselves by the quality of our personal service,' he said.
Mr Fries was born and raised in Germany, where he learned the trade through a traditional apprenticeship with Moevenpick Hotels in his native town of Trier, where he also completed his hotel school.
He then pursued a diversified and international career path, holding key management positions for Fairmont, Park Lane Hotels, Mandarin Oriental and Inter Continental Hotels.
He has been responsible for concept development and implementation of various ambitious renovation projects, including some award winning hotel, restaurant and bar concepts over the years. His strategic approach, combined with hands-on leadership and project management skills has allowed him to greatly enhance the value delivered to customers, employees and shareholders of the organisations concerned.
Mr Fries was awarded the prestigious F&B Operation of the Year Award by Mandarin Oriental for customer service, innovation and concept implementation while Director of Food & Beverage at one of their key properties in Asia.
Throughout his corporate career he has consistently achieved the highest levels of guest and employee satisfaction amongst his peers.
Prior to his appointment at The Monarch Dubai, he was advising private investors and developers on a variety of different projects, in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. These included city centre hotels, resort properties, as well as restaurant and private member clubs.
