Metra will distribute and provide technical support to Acer's commercial product line-up, including notebooks, desktop PCs, servers, projectors, and selected monitor models.

Acer's aggressive channel and marketing strategy aims to capture a significant proportion of the kingdoms fast-growing IT market. Acer is a market leader, with continued growth in its product segments, including laptops and desktop shipments, Metra Computer plans to leverage the success of the Acer brand, significantly increasing its presence in the Saudi market.

"Acer's success as a brand is a direct reflection of its winning channel partner program," said Tamer Elshourbagy, general manager, Metra Computer. "We are proud to be associated with a World leader in IT Products. Metra intends to further increase Acer's market share and work with Acer to address needs of the reseller community," added Elshourbagy.

For Acer, the Kingdom remains the strongest market regionally. The IT vendor is one of the top suppliers for notebooks in the kingdom and while continuing to do so, is also increasing its penetration on Desktops, LCDs and Projectors as well.

"Acer appointed of Metra is based on their professionalism and track record of delivering results in the regional SMB and enterprise market. We have high standards and expectations for building a successful business in the commercial space, and with Metra, Acer have further strengthened its commercial distribution network for its resellers,"

said Karim Hammad, commercial sales manager, KSA Acer Computer.

High on both Metra and Acer's agenda is the small to medium business segment (SMB). Businesses with fewer than 250 employees account for majority of organizations in the Middle East, and SMB demand for hardware is fuelling the growth of leading vendors such as Acer.
