Sharjah Tatweer Forum signs MoU with UNDP

Under the terms of the MoU, The UN will provide consultations, technical assistance and institutional support for Tatweer especially in the implementation and evaluation of joint partnerships for current and future projects between the public and private sectors in the emirate of Sharjah.

Sharjah Tatweer Forum (Tatweer), the emirate of Sharjah's ambitious initiative for building UAE Nationals' skills, has announced that its Chairman, Hussein Al Mahmoudi, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dr. Khaled Aloush, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Permanent Representative in the UAE.

In addition, the UNDP will offer different activities and programmes aimed at developing the skills of a pool of emerging young leaders in the emirate.

Under the same terms, The UNDP will be also providing networking opportunities for the Forum's members with economic and social institutions under its umbrella, while Tatweer will help the UN benefit from its wide ranging networks that include governmental institutions, private businesses and social communities in Sharjah.

The two parties will also organize events, conferences, workshops and specialized gatherings, which will discuss and highlight the latest developments and best practices of interest to both parties especially in the field of cooperation between the government and private sectors. Sharjah Tatweer Forum and the UNDP will also set joint programmes that help promote and enhance the competitiveness of Sharjah as well as the objectives of both Tatweer and the UNDP in the UAE.

Hussain Al Mahmoudi, Chairman of Sharjah Tatweer Forum, said, "We are pleased to sign this MoU with the UNDP's representative, as this agreement will help us benefit enormously from the UNDP's international expertise and its available capabilities. This will help us reach Tatweer's objectives of sponsoring and highlighting the role of young UAE leaders, and motivating them to achieve excellence in administrative and leadership practices, and expanding their influence in society, as well as fostering partnerships between the governmental and private sectors and facilitating the execution of innovative projects and ideas, in an effort to enhance the competitiveness of the Emirate of Sharjah as a prominent center for business, education, culture and tourism."

"Through this agreement with Sharjah Tatweer Forum we aim to encourage the sustainable economic and social development of the emirate of Sharjah. We intend to achieve this by facilitating the roles of both public and private sectors and developing local leaders, capacity building and scientific capabilities. We hope that this agreement will open new horizons of collaboration and networking for all parties," Dr. Aloush said.

Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and the Honorary Chairman of Sharjah Tatweer Forum.
