- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, September 30 - 2007 at 15:13
- PRESS RELEASE
Every year, the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD) publishes a corporate calendar that is distributed to its Governing Board, employees, various partners nationally, regionally and internationally.
EAD's Eco-Calendar 2008 Design Competition is only open to students of Zayed University (Abu Dhabi Branch) and Higher Colleges of Technology (Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Branches). The competition was launched to encourage UAE national students to use their creativity and talent to help promote environmental awareness, a key step towards environmental conservation. EAD also hopes to encourage the students themselves to maintain the Emirate's natural beauty for future generations to enjoy.
The students are being encouraged to produce calendars from environmentally-friendly material so as not to add to the UAE's already high waste production. Entries will then be judged anonymously by EAD management. Prizes will be awarded as such: 1st Prize at AED 10,000, 2nd Prize at AED 8,000 and 3rd Prize at AED 6,000.
Students have been asked to submit a calendar design based on the following sub-themes:
January-The Arabian Oryx amongst the Dunes
February-Beautiful flowers/butterflies
March-Life Underwater
April-Beautiful Birds
May-Protected Areas and Islands
June-Scenic Beaches
July-Beautiful Coastal scenery/mangroves
August-Beautiful Green landscapes/date palms
September-Beautiful Jebel Hafeet
October-Beauty of the Desert
November-Abu Dhabi's Corniche, Parks and Gardens
December-Abu Dhabi in different beautiful weather (sunny, cloudy, stormy)
