Intel Chief of Staff, WEF Young Global Leader discuss growth, leadership trends at the forum's summer event in China

Nearly 200 leaders from 52 countries discussed global growth trends they expect will shape the world in 2030 and the evolving set of traits required for effective leadership.

"The summit provided a chance for us to examine how the world's traditional leaders and a new class of innovators - from East and West -- are re-shaping business and transforming society," said Ibrahim. "I look forward to what the young global leaders can do to address some of the biggest global challenges facing our generation such as health care, education, and economic development."

Lila Ibrahim, who has been chief of staff for Intel Chairman Craig Barrett for almost three years, was among the participants who came from Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and North America.

Earlier this year, Ibrahim was selected out of 4,000 candidates from around the world for her past accomplishments, commitment and potential to creating a better global society. Ibrahim, who is of Lebanese origin, is one of the few female candidates from the Middle East who were selected to be one of this year's class of WEF Young Global Leaders.

Ibrahim manages several projects on behalf of Intel's chairman, and leads the strategic planning related to their activities to apply technology to create social and economic opportunities. Through the Intel World Ahead Program, they have pioneered programs to expand what is possible for millions of people across more than 20 countries each year. During her sabbatical, she raised funds from friends from Intel to build a computer lab and train teachers at the orphanage where her father was brought up in Lebanon. In 2003 she built a second lab to better serve the orphanage's 1,000 students. Earlier this year, Ibrahim returned with Barrett as part of the Partnership for Lebanon revitalization effort.

"I am honored to be representing Intel as a WEF Young Global Leader, especially because it is a major part of Intel's culture to use technology to create positive outcomes for people worldwide," says Ibrahim. "Intel has provided me with opportunities to help my own community in the Middle East, as well as millions of people around the world."

Together the Young Global Leaders are engaging in the 2030 Initiative aimed at understanding current and future trends, risks and opportunities both at global and regional levels, formulating a positive vision for the world in 2030 and putting forward concrete strategies and to translate their vision into action.
