- PRESS RELEASE
As part of IBQ and ICC-ONE's dedications to the local community and in promoting communication and leadership skills, the ICC-ONE Toastmasters Club today launched the 4th annual 'IBQ COMMUNICATOR AWARDS 2007' contest.
The competition was initiated to promote local awareness of public speech and its importance in developing communication and leadership skills within the community.
"The awards signify just how much we value our community, which is why we are dedicated to supporting this initiative year on year. By encouraging and promoting development of communication skills across the community we closely reflect IBQ's desire to establish the perfect environment for leadership to thrive within communities," commented Michael H. Williams, CEO of IBQ
The ICC-One Toastmasters is one of 20 other Toastmaster clubs operating in Qatar; it is also a member of Toastmasters International. With the objective of organizing member clubs that provide a mutually supportive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, and in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.
"A company's success depends on communication. Employees face endless challenges as they deal with one another and with customers day after day. How well they communicate can determine whether a company grows into an industry leader or joins thousands of other businesses mired in mediocrity", said M.I.Farid, Founder President of the ICC-One Toastmasters.
This year, IBQ will take their involvement to another level, as the Bank will host a Communications MasterClass workshop a couple of weeks prior to the Awards itself.
"We see a growing interest to develop communication skills both from our employees and our clients. The communication workshop will be an excellent way for participants to prepare as we will cover communication styles, skills and public speaking, among other things", Williams concluded.
The best speakers in Qatar will be chosen on Friday, 16th November, when ICC - ONE Toastmasters club conducts their annual speech contest, "IBQ COMMUNICATOR AWARDS 2007". The awards are open to all residents aged 18 years and over and the Finals will be held on 16th November 2007 at the Diplomatic Club, where IBQ will present cash awards to the winners of each of the following categories; International and Humorous speeches.
