DBWC hosts 'Ramadan Third Gathering'

Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC) has organized the 'Ramadan Third Gathering' for its Board members and general assembly.

More than 60 members, including officials from the Emirates Arthritis Foundation (EAF), attended the event.

DBWC has been organizing this Ramadan meeting every year for its members and guests for improving inter-personal communication and to discuss the common interest issues.

Mrs. Rajaa Easa Al-Gurg, DBWC President, while welcoming the attendees, emphasized the importance of communication and building bridges of cooperation between businesswomen. She underscored the need to take advantage of this eminent month to meet, exchange and discuss issues, opinions and common interests.

Mrs. Rajaa Easa Al-Gurg also pointed out that Emirati women have achieved great success in all fields and is providing for herself through education, knowledge and noble intentions that qualify her to go forward in achieving more progress and to play her role in serving society and take part in its development.

She also said that the entry of Emirati women into the financial and business worlds was a result of many reasons that could be found in the past history of the country. This has encouraged them to involve themselves in the affairs of the world. Their involvement has been further helped by the increase in college education through the nineties.

The UAE government's deep interest in humanitarian development in general and women's development specifically is one more reason for the advancement of women, she said. The existence of legislative bases that motivate investments and development in addition to the governmental initiatives that gave new opportunities for them in the workplace have also added strength to the involvement of women in national affairs. Mrs Rajaa Easa Al-Gurg hoped that on the blessed occasion of Ramadan the ladies would continue to work inspiringly and help the people in need in the true spirit of Islam and the Holy Month.

Mrs. Rajaa Easa Al-Gurg declared that she is sponsoring the research, which Dr. Lynda Moore, from Zayed University is working on, about leaders businesswomen in the UAE, The research results will be a course given in all business colleges in the world. DBWC as well will have a great and active role in supporting this valuable research. In this field Zayed University is interested in giving the true image of the business society in the UAE.

Dr. Cathy Leibman, EAF Coordinator, thanked DBWC for the Ramadan invitation and emphasized the importance of communication among all women organizations, especially in the field of health awareness. "Dangers to health are spreading in society and one of them is Arthritis which urgently needs more awareness regarding protection and cure," she said.

Dr. Cathy Leibman also thanked H.H. Princess Haya Bint Al-Hussien wife of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of U.A.E. and Ruler of Dubai for her kind patronage of EAF.

The body was established in April 2006 and aims to enhance the awareness of the dangers of Arthritis and seeks to improve patients' lives through highlighting the manner in which they can protect themselves. EAF also provides the latest cures according to the best international practices and standards. Dr. Leibman also said that EAF helps needy patients and provides suitable medical care.

A charity box has also been established for this reason. EAF has the support of individuals, companies and commercials projects which are interested in supporting humanitarian issues, she pointed out.
