Based at Etihad's head office near Abu Dhabi airport, Adrian will report to Geert Boven, Etihad Airways' executive vice president sales and services, and will be responsible for the airline's sales strategy, activities and performance.
Mr Boven said: "It is great to be welcoming Adrian to Etihad Airways and I look forward to working closely with him in his new role. He has a wealth of experience in the airline industry which will be hugely valuable in the further development of Etihad's sales activities."
Adrian joins Etihad from British carrier, bmi, where he spent 11 years and held the position of commercial director, sales director and general sales manager.
During his time with bmi he was responsible for global sales and marketing of the bmi brand and the airline's communication and online strategy, revenue management, pricing and network scheduling.
Mr Parkes said: "It is a privilege to be joining Etihad at such an exciting time in the airline's history and I am relishing the opportunity of working with a talented team and expanding the airline's sales further."
