Amadeus announces new General Manager for Amadeus Qatar

In his new role, Al Wahidi will continue to drive Amadeus Qatar's commercial and solution strategy. He will also play a key role in strengthening the company's existing relations and build new ones with partners and travel agents in Qatar.

Al Wahidi has more than 20 years of work experience and a great understanding of the local market. He joined Amadeus in 2002 as a sales manager and has been closely associated with the travel and hospitality industry throughout his career, including a successful stint at Gulf Air.

Al Wahidi moves into his new role from the position of deputy general manager, a post he held since August 2006. He is taking over from Faris Azzee who will now remain fully dedicated to leading Amadeus' business as the director of sales for Dubai and Northern Emirates in the UAE.

Commenting on the appointment, Fernando Cuesta, Senior Regional Manager for Middle East & Africa, Amadeus, said, "Wafiq Al Wahidi has demonstrated great leadership skills and has been an asset to our operations in Qatar. Under his guidance we are confident of continuing our position as the preferred IT partner and will maintain our consistent level of services to our travel and tourism partners in Qatar. I want to take the opportunity to thank Faris Azzee, the previous GM at Amadeus Qatar, for his excellent job in placing Amadeus in the superior position it currently holds in the Qatari market."
