Safeway signs agreement with Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA)

Safeway, the largest and first superstore in Jordan, announced the signing of an agreement with Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA),

The meeting was attended by his Excellency Engineer Nader Al Dahabi, Chief Executive Commissioner of ASEZA, and Abdullah El-Jazara, Chief Commercial Officer of The Sultan Center TSC Safeway.

Upon this agreement, TSC / Safeway will now own a piece of land located in the territories of ASEZA with the aim to build the first wholesale center of its kind in Aqaba. This agreement comes in implementation of Safeway's expansion plan which aims at increasing the number of its outlets in multi format retailing across the Kingdom.

'We are pleased to be signing this agreement with Safeway, as a leading name in the retail market. We are confident that this enterprise will positively contribute to raising and consolidating the profile of Aqaba as a destination for successful investment,' said H.E Engineer Nader Al Dahabi, Chief Executive Commissioner of ASEZA.

'We take pride in our rewarding relationship with a professional pioneer such as ASEZA. This agreement, which comes in line with our ultimate objective of exceeding customer satisfaction, will mark up a very significant milestone in our portfolio as Sultan Center -Safeway.' said El-Jazara.

'Following the great success of a warehouse store concept in Al Zarqa and recently in Al Muqablein, we are positive that our new project in Aqaba will add to our remarkable series of achievements in the Kingdom.' Added El-Jazara.

This 35, 000 m2 colossal project is significant for its diversified facilities and sections, including a vast parking area, wholesale center that offer groceries, dairy, frozen, fresh foods and general merchandise items under one roof at extremely competitive prices which provide the Jordanian consumers with a wide range of options as well as a peaceful and enjoyable shopping experience. This new wholesale center in Aqaba will be the 15th Safeway branch, and the third wholesale center in Jordan.

Since its acquisition by Sultan Center in 2003, Safeway Jordan has been significant for its constant pursuit of excellence. This project is a true testament of Safeway's commitment to providing the Jordanian community with top of the line products and quality services by inaugurating new branches across the country that offer them the best deal at competitive prices and in an enjoyable atmosphere.

Since Sultan Center took over Safeway it started to develop numerous projects, increasing stores from 6 to 13 through out Jordan; Moreover adding centralized Distribution Center in Sehab for imported foreign items worth over 100 million Jordanian Dinars. In addition The Company sustains the latest technology and enhances its business practices, holding over 40 thousand items supplied from the local and international market that meets different segment needs within the Kingdom.

The company growth includes spreading out The Wholesale Center within the country such as but not limited to Irbid, Aqaba, Mafraq, Al-Salt and Madab as well as a Memorandum of Understanding ('MOU') has been signed with Jordan Modern Oil & Fuel Services Co. Ltd. introducing the gas station convenient store concept in all their up coming stations.
