The event is organized by America-Mideast Educational and Training Services Inc. (AMIDEAST) from 4th to 5th October.

Joining other American higher-education colleges in the fair, WCMC-Q aims to raise awareness about the programs and degree it offers. Taking part in this major event for the first time, the Medical College will inform high-school students about admissions requirements, the application process and how to prepare for higher education.

WCMC-Q's delegation includes Alexandria born Professor of Surgery and Transplantation Surgeon Dr. Bakr Nour, and Lee Askin, Director of Admissions, who will visit a number of schools in Cairo and Alexandria such as Modern English School, American International School, American School of Alexandria, and El Alsson School. They will meet with a wide variety of Egyptian students who are interested to pursue higher education in medicine.

"We are looking for hard-working students in Egypt to come to our branch campus in Qatar where they will get an Ivy League medical education and exposure to world class teaching tools and techniques. WCMC-Q is not only providing education, but also a safe and comfortable environment," said Dr. Nour.

"There are 16 Egyptian students among some 200 pre-medical and medical students, representing over 30 nationalities, at WCMC-Q," he added

WCMC-Q offers a six-year integrated program of study. The two-year Pre-medical Program is followed by the four-year Medical Program, leading to the Cornell University MD degree with teaching by Cornell faculty.

A branch campus of Cornell University's Weill Medical College in New York, WCMC-Q was established in 2001 through a partnership between Cornell and the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development. It is housed in a state-of-the-art building on Qatar Foundation's Education City Campus in Doha, Qatar.

During the Fair, WCMC-Q will also have a booth in Cairo and Alexandria providing copies of the student prospectus, magazine and other publications to help raise awareness about the college educational system.

"I joined WCMC-Q because we use the latest technologies in education. It provides huge opportunities to conduct bio-medical research, an experience which enables us to become not only physicians who treat patients, but also contributors to scientific advances," said Mohamed El Shazly, an Egyptian Second Year medical student, due to graduate in 2010.

Bassem Zaki, who is studying in the Pre-medical Program (Second Year), said his sister's decision to study at WCMC-Q (she is a Third Year medical student), inspired him to apply. "I joined my sister during her orientation in the college. I was amazed at the academic program and the facilities that allow students to learn professionally. When I was younger, I wanted to pursue engineering. Now, I am convinced that I want to be a doctor and hopefully a cardiac surgeon."

First Year pre-medical student, Fadwa Fares described her ambition for the future saying: "Studying at WCMC-Q is extremely challenging. It is a place where you can prove yourself within a multinational group and also enhance your abilities. Being an Egyptian doctor in the future will make me feel very proud. My goal is to be a doctor helping patients worldwide."

Taking part in Egypt's American College Fair is part of WCMC-Q's campaign to reach students in the Middle East and Gulf Countries to inform them of the opportunities it offers. In the meantime, WCMC-Q is planning to join the annual Discover Education City regional tour organized by Qatar Foundation. The event will kick off in Qatar on 28th October before moving onto Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman, ending in Dubai on 13th December.
