To begin with, educational booths were set-up at the Marina Mall on the 27th and 28th of September, and another booth was set-up at the Preventive Medicine Department Building on the 30th of September. Over 2500 people visited the booths; around 900 people had their blood pressure and blood glucose level tested and 765 people had cholesterol level tested.

The booths proved themselves to be of great value, for they were employed wonderfully to raise the public's awareness about heart diseases and discuss with our doctors vital points on how to keep their hearts healthy. Moreover, several gifts and educational brochures about heart diseases were distributed for the visitors. It is worth mentioning that doctors were available at the booths to counsel visitors and answer their questions about heart diseases. In addition, a Quit Smoking Unit was initiated to offer free lung age tests as well as blood Carbon Monoxide level tests for the interested visitors.

In line with the activities already planned for the World Heart Day, the Cardiac Sciences Department will also hold panel discussions about Cardiovascular Health titled under "Your Heart Comes First" on the 05th of October, 2007 at 09:30 pm at Ben Majed Hall of the Cultural Foundation.

The symposia will be headed by Dr. Abdulmajeed Al Zubaidi, Consultant Cardiology, and the target audience is the general public.
