  • PRESS RELEASE

Sony Gulf is displaying the VAIO VGX-TP at GITEX 2007; the ultimate Home Entertainment Centre designed to bring together the two worlds of television and computing seamlessly.

Visitors to the Sony Stand at GITEX 2007 will be able to get a preview of this stunning device set to be launched in the Middle East only later this year.

VAIO VGX-TP

With its radical and unique round case measuring a mere 27cm across, the VAIO-TP is completely distinctive and totally versatile. A choice of HDMI, VGA and DVI outputs makes connection to a BRAVIA HD-Ready TV or computer display simplicity itself. The power and signal cables are concealed as they pass underneath the side of the case, preserving the minimalist 360° styling perfectly. A 500GB hard disk and integrated hybrid TV tuner enable the VAIO TP1 to become a sophisticated Personal DVD Recorder offering huge storage capacity for your choice of digital and analogue programmes.

Wireless networking means the VAIO TP can be added to a cable-free home network in minutes, and a carefully designed wireless keyboard ensures operating the system is as easy as setting it up. The keyboard is compact, comfortable to use and features an integrated notebook-style touchpad for complete control of the interface. The VAIO TP also has a standard wired LAN connection for easy connection to conventional cabled home networks.

Enormous care and attention has been paid to the design of the casing, from the lustrous finish of the top to the touch-to-open DVD drive. Instead of breaking up the elegant simplicity of the case with a small, hard to hit eject button, the drive opens when any part of the front of the tray is pressed. Below the drive another touch-to-open sliding panel reveals key inputs including a multi card reader (SD and Memory Stick) and 2 x USB flash drive slots which can also be used to connect directly to your digital camera and music player.

The VAIO VGX-TP is one of the highlights from VAIO at the Sony Stand at GITEX 2007. This model will be launched in the Middle East in 2007 and will be available at major AV/IT outlets in the UAE, including Jumbo Electronics, Plug-ins, Jacky's, Sharaf DG, Compu ME, EMAX etc.
