The Award comes as part of ADC efforts to recognise and support small project owners as well as encourage the residents of Aqaba to establish their own creative and innovative businesses.
The MoU was signed by ADC's Chairman of the Board and CEO Eng. Imad Fakhoury and General Manager of DEF Mr. Ali Al Ghazawi, according to which ADC will provide monetary awards for the top three projects, while DEF will organise and manage the award.
Fakhoury highlighted that the Award aims at honouring the achievements and accomplishments of small project owners. He also underlined that the establishment of small projects plays a significant role in fighting unemployment and poverty, which contributes to achieving the Kingdom's Millennium Development goal of reducing poverty and unemployment by 50 percent by 2015.
Fakhoury also emphasised that developing small projects will contribute to enhancing the national economy, empowering the new generation as well as strengthening the capabilities and talents of Jordanians, which fall in line with His Majesty King Abdullah II's vision of significantly reducing poverty and unemployment. Fakhoury confirmed that these goals cannot be achieved without the cooperation of all parties involved.
Al Ghazawi stressed that it is important for national entities to encourage the establishment of small businesses through funding small and micro projects, supporting business owners and their projects and most importantly promoting success stories.
