He pointed out that RJ has successfully achieved the automation of the electronic ticketing handling capability at 47 out of the current 53 RJ stations worldwide. Work is under progress at the remaining six stations, namely Baghdad, Erbil, Suleimanieh, Basra, Alexandria and Khartoum, to achieve e-ticketing.

Majali explained that during this year, Royal Jordanian has added 29 Interline e-ticketing agreements with other airlines. That increase, says the International Air Transport Association (IATA), is the 19th highest of the 350 airlines in the world that issue tickets through their global network of Billing and Settlement plans.

He added that RJ created a special section for the implementation of the e-commerce systems. The section has been working full speed since the second half of last year to introduce e-ticketing to its outstations, to meet the May 31, 2008, mandatory deadline for the airline community to reach 100% implementation of e-ticketing.

Majali voiced satisfaction with the implementation of the e-ticketing system, which simplifies all travel procedures and makes it easier and more convenient for passengers to arrange for their flights by using the Internet to book online. RJ is presently aiming to reach a high level of customer care and plans to introduce, in the near future, sophisticated web check-in facilities.

Being geared toward customer care, RJ has introduced several systems during this and last year at its offices all over the world, at the airports, on its official website, to cover all travel procedures.

The CEO pointed out that the airline earned an eminent international award in recognition of its achievements: the Airline Strategy Award, in the technology category, at the annual Airline Strategy Awards organized by Airline Business magazine, one of the most famous publications in the air transport industry.
