Identification Cards have been influencing our lives for many years now. It began as simple identity cards such as health cards, student ID, government ID, driving licenses.
Now primion Technology AG introduces the first smart card application especially for students to integrate different applications on one platform. The "Student Smart Card" can combine many applications of university as a total solution. One card for access control, refectory usage, copier usage and billing, library usage and billing, student and examination management, student support services, identification, payment function. A student in a university can borrow books from the library in another university branch. He can book an individual work room for group work, which is secured by primion Technology AG. Using the same ID card, he can go to the cafeteria and make a cashless payment for food and drink.
No more standing in ques, no more cashing from ATMS , no more waiting for office hours. Students will have self-service terminals to enroll themselves for courses, print certificates, registration, printouts of grades, revaluation of the electronic purse, campus info, cashless payments with cards for library, cafeteria, annual fees. This will be secured by a password and ID, which will eliminate the risk of identity fraud.
There will be a relief for administration and information departments, standardization of payment processes in the university. Also there will be an improved information exchange with the Smart Student Card because students will have access to university systems to operate at any time of the day despite the limited office hours. Consequently, the student service level will increase for a round-the-clock self-service functions.
Most importantly the security of universities will increase as the Student Smart card will be used as an access control device, securing exit/entry points. For example, access to computer labs, student dorms and recreational areas The University can know exactly how many people and who is in each building, or class. If there is an emergency situation, precautions can be taken immediately and thoroughly.
Since there is an increase in the number of student pursuing further studies in the Middle East, the responsibility of international university's branches to provide similar university experience has increased. Therefore, the quality of student services has been improving for more student convenience. For example, Emirates Bank has launched a "me Uni Credit Card", which is a student credit card packed with benefits to suit the student's lifestyle. There was also launched a student school bus locator, which transmits real-time school bus tracking and current location in addition to how the bus is being driven and at what speed.
