ESCA plans new instruments

The Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority plans to introduce new financial instruments early next year that would include derivatives, futures and options, reported Gulf News. Adbullah Al Turaifi, Esca's chief executive officer, said the authority is also working to introduce the concept of the market-maker, a proposal that followed the markets' slowdown in 2006, and that was endorsed by the central bank.
