Intel Chairman to 'Expand What's Possible' in Africa

As part of the 'Expanding What's Possible' world tour, Barrett is set to visit Maghreb, Nigeria and Rwanda later this month.
"Intel aims at enhancing the lives of people in remote areas by extending digital accessibility and developing the right technology tailored to local needs, drive critical connectivity, cultivate sustainable local capabilities and provide the education needed to make a meaningful difference in people's lives," said Khaled Elamrawi, Intel Country Manager, Egypt, LEVANT and North Africa.
"Our global chairman's visit to the Maghreb marks our drive for ICT development in liaison with the education community, government bodies and local market players in Morocco," he added.
Barrett will also be visiting Nigeria and Rwanda and addressing the challenges of connectivity, internet access and the need for enriching digital inclusion programs. Barrett will meet with business and government leaders and investigate ways in which private public partnerships can be used efficiently in bringing technology to those regions.
In 2005 Barrett came to Maghreb, where he championed ICT as the key driver of developing economies. And, in his capacity as UNGAID chairman, Barrett talked about the importance of digital inclusion at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) in Tunisia.
