The globally recognised certification was awarded following independent testing and assessment of Dubai eGovernment's quality management systems and processes, by IMS Certification, an independent international certification body.
Commenting on the certification, Salem Al Shair, eServices Director, Dubai eGovernment, said: 'This recognition communicates to the citizens and residents of Dubai and our customers that Dubai eGovernment prides itself in incorporating the very best practices and processes that consistently meet or exceed their needs. Over the years, we have undertaken several quality initiatives such as streamlining internal processes and implementing various managerial measurement systems to improve eServices and to provide an enhanced user experience.'
Alex Simon Mendis, General Manager, IMS Certification, said: 'We were totally satisfied with the quality systems and processes at Dubai eGovernment. As a government entity, they have led by example and have constantly demonstrated their commitment to incorporate the latest quality initiatives that have enhanced the standard of its eServices and maximised reliability and performance of key processes.'
ISO 9001:2000 is an international quality management standard and framework for business-to-business dealings, focusing on meeting customer quality and applicable regulatory requirements, enhancing customer satisfaction and continually improving business performance. ISO certification guarantees Dubai eGovernment's customers that a quality management system is in place, facilitating better systems processes and cost-effective management of the entity. The ISO 9001:2000 certification is considered the highest standard for quality assurance, and to achieve certification, organisations must have a comprehensive quality management system that addresses all areas of its operation.
Dubai eGovernment is a pioneering initiative in the region to provide online services across the spectrum of corporate and community life in the emirate. It also has a vision to integrate individually automated government departments under the single umbrella of the eGovernment initiative, thus empowering employees across lines of businesses and levels of government, besides facilitating the lives of citizens and customers of the government. Dubai has taken a lead in the region in deploying eGovernment applications and is among the first few governments in the world to provide such integrated services to its citizens.
The eGovernment portal (www.dubai.ae) is a single contact point masking the complexity of the bureaucratic procedures, and guiding access to all services in the easiest possible way. In addition, the eGovernment initiative seeks to improve and enhance procedures by maximizing the benefit from technology, so that users from all walks of life will be able to utilize the portal for their specific needs with considerable ease.
