Louvre Abu Dhabi gets approval

Plans to build the Louvre Abu Dhabi have been approved by the The French National Assembly under a 30-year cultural agreement between the UAE and France, reported WAM. The 24,000-square-metre branch of the famous Paris museum, designed by French architect Jean Nouvel, is expected to open in 2012 as part of Saadiyat Island's Cultural District project. Under the agreement, France's most prestigious museum will provide artworks and share its expertise.
