The company is expanding its operations in the region to meet the strong demand from the UAE and beyond.

'DORMA first started operations directly in the region in 1997 with a staff of four based in a villa,' said regional director, Ben Shaw. 'That early investment in the market has resulted in the growth of a regional business that directly employs over 175 staff and that now spans the whole region. And, as a global company, we can clearly see that this region has grown faster than any other in the world for DORMA.'

The emerging regional market growth trend in the Middle East saw the company investing in a major regional expansion plan in 2004, opening activities in a wider product line and with a direct presence in important regional markets such as Saudi Arabia, where major construction projects are consistently growing to meet explosive market demand: a growth set to increase with new regulations governing mortgages for domestic buyers set to be passed in the near future.

'Although the growth in Dubai and the UAE has been huge, we have seen a rise in demand from across the region, particularly from customers who have a need for high quality, innovative solutions and systems with design, safety and security in mind,' said Shaw. 'So DORMA's projects have included the Burj Dubai, Downtown Jebel Ali, the Jebel Ali based Dubai World Central airport project, the Faisaliya tower in Riyadh and other iconic projects from Pakistan through Iran to the Levant and Egypt. In fact, the Burj Dubai project was the largest ever single order in DORMA's history.'

The company is to continue expanding its regional facilities to meet the strong demand being generated by the Middle East's rapid growth in construction: 'We have consistently grown our staff, our facilities and our regional investments and that is a trend that will continue with the strong growth in the region,' said Shaw.
