The sale of merchandise - launched last week - is another channel the campaign is using to raise money for the campaign as well as the school voucher programme (value of AED20) for students wishing to sell vouchers to raise money for the campaign. Finally, people can donate online by logging onto the 'Dubai Cares' website (www.dubaicares.ae).

Mohammed Al Emadi, Project Coordinator for Dubai Cares, stressed that any other donation channel is not official and not associated with the Dubai Cares campaign - donation schemes not affiliated with the campaign and done in the name of Dubai Cares is tantamount to fraud and punishable by law. Al Emadi also stated that campaign organizers have contacted the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charity and requested they pursue whoever sells coupons under false pretenses or promotes the campaign without license.

He reiterated that instructions issued by the schools on the vouchers was very clear and highlighted the non-obligation rules on students for selling or buying. Students taking the vouchers are not obliged to sell all 20 vouchers in each booklet - vouchers not sold are to be returned to their schools, following the declared instructions.

Dubai Cares was launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashed Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and is Dubai's contribution to a global drive to assist countries in achieving their U.N. Millennium Development Goals for providing Children's Primary Education to every child by 2015.

In addition to its commitment to the global community, Dubai Cares has a number of key objectives for the domestic front - namely, to build social cohesion in Dubai and to instill the spirit of philanthropy among its residents, binding them through a common cause and greater purpose.
