For the uninitiated let us first review the stunning Arabesque-style Madinat complex with its collection of Dubai wind-towers. This is an integrated five-star resort along one kilometre of pristine beach adjacent to the famous Burj Al Arab hotel.

There is 3.7 kilometres of canal and a water-taxi service to whisk you between the two hotels, restaurants, villas-for-rent, swimming pools and the impressive arcades of the air-conditioned but traditional souk.

If you want to stay in one location in Dubai then with around 40 restaurants and its extensive souk, the Madinat is perfectly self-sufficient. But then you are also only 10 minutes away by taxi from the skiing and shopping at the Mall of the Emirates, the largest in the Middle East, and from the excellent Gold and Diamond Park.

Choose the Al Qasr for some of the finest beach accommodation available anywhere. None of the 292 guest rooms is less than 55 square metres. And the separate club executive and premium leisure club facilities mean that adults have one area to themselves.

Arabesque rooms

The Arabesque theme of the resort's architecture continues into the guest rooms with specially made furniture and fittings and a supremely comfortable bed. The lavish marble bathrooms feature separate rainfall showers and a toilet room with bidet.

AME Info can also recommend MJ's steakhouse which serves fois gras and Australian Wagyu beef, considered to be the world's most succulent, and boasts a very strong wine list. Breakfasts can be taken in the club lounges or in the opulent lobby restaurant, and the buffet provides amply for all global tastes.

For visitors seeking the ultimate in a sun, beach and shopping vacation the Al Qasr has arguably the best facilities available in Dubai, although this is a highly competitive market and new hotel openings are going to be a regular feature of this winter's season.

Relax

If all you want is to sit by a pool and relax then Al Qasr has extensive gardens and a huge main swimming pool. On the private beach you have the usual attentive service to ensure comfort and the blue waters of the Jumeirah beach are crystal clear and safe.

Indeed, standards of service through-out the Al Qasr are world-class from the speedy check-in in a stunning side lobby or in the club facilities, to the seen-but-not-heard service in the restaurants.

Some canny business visitors to Dubai have also realised that a beach hotel is a nicer option for a long-stay, particularly with weekends for leisure, and needless to say the Al Qasr has everything a business traveller could require, as well as being an impressive venue to entertain new partners.
