In a city of laissez faire architectural expression brimming with out of this world skyscrapers and statement structures, Banyan Tree has chosen to give a unique twist to its hospitality offering in Dubai by creating the city's first all pool villa resort in the heart of Dubai.
'Dubai has always been an important cornerstone in our expansion strategy in the Middle East. Despite this, we have been deliberate and patient in the selection of the right opportunity and partner to collaborate with in order to ensure that the end product would be truly special. We believe we have achieved this with Banyan Tree Meydan' said Executive Chairman, Mr Ho Kwon Ping.
Anchored by Banyan Tree's signature brand of Asian hospitality, Banyan Tree Meydan will offer its guests the seclusion and privacy of a resort experience in the midst of the bustling and vibrant world of Dubai.
Banyan Tree Meydan will be positioned as the first golf and equestrian resort in the Middle East and will comprise about 60 pool villas of about 400 square meters each.
Resort amenities include Banyan Tree's signature F&B facilities as well the award-winning Banyan Tree Spa. The resort interiors are designed in collaboration with Architrave Design & Planning, the in-house design division of Banyan Tree.
Located within an integrated project currently being developed by the Meydan LLC, Banyan Tree Meydan will be adjacent to the Meydan Golf Course, and offers easy accessibility to the Meydan Racecourse.
The latter is a new iconic horseracing complex that boasts the world's first grandstand hotel - The Meydan, which will also be operated by Banyan Tree, with all suites having a direct unobstructed view of the racecourse. The grandstand complex seats around 55,000, and offers over 10 restaurants, as well as assorted recreational facilities.
Meydan LLC Chairman, Mr Saeed H Al-Tayer said, 'We are delighted in welcoming Banyan Tree to Meydan. Banyan Tree is an extremely well-regarded hospitality brand, known for its luxury, innovation and customer care, and that's why we see the Group as the perfect partner for Meydan. Banyan Tree Meydan, with its signature pool villa concept, will provide a perfect refuge from the vibrant city, while The Meydan will be the world's first five-star racecourse grandstand hotel, which shows how this landmark horseracing city is pushing back the boundaries of normal convention.'
Within close proximity to Meydan Racecourse is Meydan City, located in the heart of Dubai's burgeoning new urban frontier. Consisting of commercial and residential plots, retail outlets and arcades with canal, waterfront and promenade views, Meydan City will support a thriving community.
These new developments are not expected to have any material financial impact on the Group's earnings and its net tangible assets for 2007.
