DTCM hosts CNBC talk show during Cityscape
- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, October 18 - 2007 at 13:48
- PRESS RELEASE
(DTCM), hosted the popular German TV personality, Ms. Sabine Christiansen, to shoot a special episode on Dubai for its prime-time programme, Global Players for CNBC International.
Mr Hamad bin Mejrin, DTCM Director Missions, said: "The DTCM is always on the lookout for promoting Dubai internationally as a commercial and touristic destination and we succeeded in hosting this popular CNBC talk show which has a viewership of 350 million households all over the world and the show will help us reach out to that many viewers thus enhancing the appeal of Dubai worldwide."
Added Mr bin Mejrin, "A majority of CNBC viewers are investors and businessmen which gives us the golden opportunity of reaching out to the people who matter and thus to promote Dubai as a year-round family destination."
The shooting was done in Emirates Towers' Jumeirah Hall which served as a studio and the Al Badeah Hall that doubled up as a broadcasting and meetings area. Five prominent personalities were the guests on the show and included Nasser H. Al-Shaikh, Chairman, Amlak; Peter Cooper, Consultant Editor, AME Info; Akihiko Hamada, Senior Executive Officer, Nikken Sekkei Ltd; Peter Riddoch, CEO, Damac Properties and Robert Orr, European CEO, Jones Lang LaSalle Inc.
Mr Nasser H. Al-Shaikh, Chairman, Amlak said: "The theme of the talk show focusing on the construction boom in Dubai which started in the year 2000 with the launch of the freehold land law for foreigners will put to rest the doubt about the sustainability of the law which I would say is still alive and kicking."
Al-Shaikh added, "The law is based on a thorough study by the authorities and the Dubai Government is constantly investing huge amount of money on infrastructure and other facilities for the overall growth of Dubai. The success achieved from the construction boom can be taken as a yardstick by other countries wanting to follow suit in the region."
The talk show will focus on Cityscape, the world's biggest real estate event, that had $682 million chaning hands last year in property deals, up 38 per cent from the year before. This year's transactions are expected to exceed a record $800 billion.
