- PRESS RELEASE
H.H. Sheikh Mayed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum received an Dhs5m donation to 'Dubai Cares' from Mohammed Ibrahim Obeid-Allah, a UAE businessman, who praised the campaign and described it as a unique effort that stands as a source of pride for Arab and Muslim nations.
During the meeting, the sons conveyed a message from Obeid-Allah who said the campaign reflects the noble teachings of Islam. "The first order in Quran was 'Read', highlighting the importance our religion places on the acquisition of knowledge and education as an essential foundation for humanity's well-being," said Obeid-Allah.
He added: "Poverty, disease and suffering will always prevail in the absence of education. By educating a million poor children, 'Dubai Cares' will usher into their societies both hope and prosperity."
Obeid-Allah said 'Dubai Cares' was successfully pursuing a mission many international organizations have failed to complete, in large part due to the leadership of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
He said: "The strong commitment from the highest levels encourages the participation of individuals and organizations alike. We are proud to be part of this campaign which we hope will not be limited to a certain period of time but which will have an impact that is durable."
'Dubai Cares' was launched by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum on 19 September. The campaign aims to raise funds to provide primary education to a million needy children in a number of the world's poorest countries. Funds raised by the campaign will be utilized to build schools and offer health care and food for students.
