- PRESS RELEASE
H.H. Sheikh Ahmad Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum received Kinana M. Jamaluddin, Dubai Representative of Sultan Al Bohra Mohammed Burhanudeen who donated Dhs2.1m to Dubai Cares, a charity drive held during the Holy Month of Ramadan to help educate one million children in poor countries.
"H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid is giving pride to Muslim and Arab nations through his initiative which demonstrates the values and principles of Islam and proves to the world the good nature of our faith. The effort underlines its teachings in emphasizing the importance of charity as an essential tool for achieving social welfare," he said.
"Under H.H. Sheikh Mohammed's leadership, Dubai has always been a pioneer in the field of humanitarian and Islamic work. Its contributions have widely helped alternate misconceptions about Muslims, especially in the West.
The initiative will open unprecedented opportunities for unprivileged children around the world, offering their societies new hope for a better tomorrow. By enabling poor children through education, the campaign will leave a positive impact on the future of their countries," Jamaluddin added.
Dubai Cares is the latest in a line of international initiatives that express Dubai's willingness to play an effective role in securing a better tomorrow for future generations. The campaign is Dubai's contribution to a global drive to help countries achieve their U.N. Millennium Development Goals of providing primary education to every child by 2015.
