ETA and Cegelec join forces to set up a 50:50 alliance in the UAE

Dubai based ETA Star Group's Mechanical & Electrical Division and France based Cegelec Transport Division, have collaborated to form a 50:50 cooperation venture in the UAE.

The new cooperation will service various light rail, metros and tramway projects and will offer turnkey solutions in the field of high voltage infrastructure business in the Gulf.

"We are glad to be associated with Cegelec as a strategic partner in the UAE," said Mr. Hameed Salahuddin, Director, ETA Star Group. "We both are well established in home grown markets and share common business values, therefore we are certain that this alliance will benefit our customers in the gulf and other functioning regions, with our collective experience in business and trade." He added.

Prime Technologies LLC ( a branch of ETA Star Group) and Cegelec will conduct this exclusive cooperation from Dubai and will operate in UAE, Qatar and India. Since this is a totally new line, the estimated turnover for the next 2-3 years is expected to be approximately USD 100 million.

Commenting on the cooperation, Mr. A. K. Agarwal, Senior Executive Director, ETA M&E Division said, "The cooperation project is an excellent example of how the well-established experience of ETA M&E Division as contractor in rail, transportation in the UAE combined with Cegelec's technology, in traction power supply and rectifier's products can create industrial diversification and can take up more projects thus increasing employment opportunities in the region."

"Since there is no existing local company which has the past expertise in this specialized field, we expect to capture 50% market share through this new cooperation", he adds.

Cegelec's Marketing Director for the Middle East, Mr. Demitrion Dib was quoted as saying, "After so many years of activity in the Gulf, we are glad to consolidate our Business in Dubai with ETA by bringing our highly competitive technology in Traction Power, to participate in the tremendous development of Rail Transport in the region."

The Mechanical & Electrical Division (M&E) of ETA has been a forerunner in the field of electromechanical contracting in the Gulf. Major references for ETA in rail sector include Delhi Metro Rail project, ongoing Dubai Metro (Red and Green Lines) and Palm Jumeirah Monorail Projects.

Cegelec Transport Division has been a major player worldwide in urban transport and railways for the last 30 years. Acting as a systems integrator, Cegelec Transport Division provides solutions in traction, power supply and distribution as well as Tram signaling. Major references include projects in Europe (all major French cities, Budapest, Prague, Rotterdam, Turin, etc.) and around the world (Morocco, Cairo, Istanbul, Indonesia, Singapore, Korea, Mexico, etc.).
