Villa Grey, the new not for profit cultural activity centre today opened its doors in the spectacular Villa Hendawi in Dokki.
• Showcase for young Egyptian artists and designers
• Free entry for visitors and no exhibitor fees
Set up to promote traditional and modern Egyptian art, culture and creativity, the villa will be an inspirational environment, in which Egypt's creative artists can flourish.
The villa is also the home of the region's leading advertising agency, Grey Worldwide MENA. The villa has been restored to emphasize the full glory of its Islamic architectural design and provide inspiration for artists young and old.
Set in a spectacular location ideal for cultural events. Artists and culture lovers alike will discover traditional and modern art, sculpture and graphical exhibitions, poetry readings, concerts, fashions shows, first public readings of new poetry, plays, film scripts and concerts and musical performances in a café-theatre style..
The brainchild of artist, director and ardent defender of culture and national heritage Philippe Skaff, CEO of Grey Worldwide sees the venue as the embodiment of the new Arabic sprit and it's his vision to continually give back to the community.

They are they heart of Villa Grey and it would be fanatic if we become a focal point for Egypt's cultural community," commented a delighted founder Philippe Skaff.
Exhibitions are staged in two specially designed areas, with selected events held in the villa's sumptuous gardens. Villa Grey will also feature art auctions, exhibit works from well known local, regional and international artists, as well as showcasing a permanent exhibition of the very best advertising industry creativity.
"Over the last decade or so, we have witnessed a resurgence of interest in culture in major cities all over the world, and Cairo is no exception. The project builds on this interest, while promoting art and culture as important elements in Egyptian life," said Gerard Avedissian, Managing Direcor of Grey Cario
One of Villa Grey's most important objectives is to encourage undiscovered talent, artists venturing into their first solo or public performance or exhibition. "It is vital we become an inspiration to young artists, giving the chance for fashion and graphic designers, musicians, film makers and creative individuals of the future to take their first steps in expressing themselves through their art," added Skaff.
